Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring my own tools or materials?

We provide access to a full range of shared professional tools. However, you must bring your own materials (such as metal, stones, solder, or glass rods). If you need help sourcing materials, feel free to contact us for recommendations.

Can I book the studio without an instructor or helper?

Yes, if you're confident using our tools and equipment safely. However, for beginners or those using equipment like torches or acetylene for the first time, we recommend booking the Instructor or Helper Add-On to ensure a safe and productive session.

How many people are allowed in the studio per day?

We accept a maximum of 4 renters per day to ensure comfort, safety, and access to shared tools. Each booking is by appointment only.

What are the studio hours?

Our studio is open from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Saturday. Rental sessions are only available during these hours and must be pre-booked.

What if I break or damage a tool during my session?

We understand accidents happen. However, any tools broken or damaged due to misuse will incur a repair or replacement fee, which will be discussed transparently with you.

Is food allowed in the studio?

While we provide free coffee and tea, outside food is not allowed in the main studio area to maintain cleanliness and safety. You're welcome to eat in our designated rest area.

How do I book a studio session?

Please contact us first to confirm your preferred date and time. Once your date is confirmed, you can complete your booking online or in person. Sessions are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I use the studio for flameworking or glass projects?

Yes! Our studio accommodates flameworking projects using acetylene torch setups. If you're working with glass rods, please inform us in advance so we can ensure safe torch use and ventilation. For safety reasons, we recommend an assistant or supervisor if you're using acetylene and not yet experienced.

Do you provide materials for flameworking (e.g., glass rods, mandrels, etc.)?

No. You’ll need to bring your own flameworking materials such as glass rods, mandrels, and any coatings or enamels you require. We do provide the torch, gas, and safety setup as part of your rental.

Is the studio suitable for other crafts like ceramics or woodworking?

Our studio is currently optimized for jewelry, metalsmithing, and flameworking. We do not support ceramics or woodworking due to equipment and material differences. However, we’re happy to refer you to trusted studios in Bandung that do.

If I only need to use the torch or acetylene for a short time, do I still pay full price?

Yes. Any use of equipment—even briefly—requires a full rental fee (hourly, daily, or weekly). This ensures safe handling, fair usage, and proper maintenance of shared tools.

Can I split one rental package with a friend?

No. Rental packages cannot be shared. Each individual who uses the space and tools must register and pay separately. This is for safety, fair access, and insurance purposes.

If I book 3 hours, can I divide that into different time slots throughout the day?

No. Rental time is consecutive and scheduled in one continuous session. For example, if you book 10 AM to 1 PM, you must use the studio during those hours without break or split sessions.

If I arrive late, can I extend my time or shift the booking?

No. Studio time begins at the scheduled hour, not your arrival time. Please arrive on time. We cannot extend sessions beyond 5 PM or shift bookings unless arranged 24 hours in advance.

Are the facilities accessible outside the standard 8 AM – 5 PM hours?

No. The studio operates strictly within 8 AM to 5 PM, including setup and cleanup time. No overnight work or late evening use is permitted.

Is cleanup included in the rental fee?

No. You are expected to clean up your work area and return tools to their original place before your session ends. Leaving a mess may result in additional charges or future booking restrictions.

Can I extend my rental time on the spot if I need more hours?

Possibly, but only if there’s availability. We strongly recommend booking extra time in advance to ensure availability, as daily capacity is limited to 4 renters.

Is it okay to adjust or modify the setup of shared equipment?

No. Do not adjust, disassemble, or reconfigure any equipment without permission. Tools and setups (such as the soldering station or torch) are standardized for safety.

Is the studio supervised at all times during rental hours?

No. While the space is monitored and assistance may be nearby, your session is self-directed unless you book an Instructor or Helper Add-On. If you're unfamiliar with tool usage, booking with guidance is strongly recommended.

Why is there a difference between the Student Rate and the General Rate?

At Lievik Atelier, we offer two different pricing tiers, one for students and one for the general public, to ensure accessibility while maintaining the sustainability of our studio operations.

  1. Student Rate

The student rate is a subsidized price intended to support young creators, especially those currently enrolled in design, craft, or art-related programs (e.g., jewelry, metal arts, product design).

We understand that students may have limited financial resources but still need access to professional tools and studio space to develop their academic projects or portfolios.

To qualify, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a university or art school
  • Present a valid student ID upon booking/check-in

The student packages are designed to be affordable without compromising the experience, and are ideal for:

  • Academic assignments
  • Final projects
  • Portfolio building
  • Exploration or experimentation

General Rate

The general rate applies to:

  • Independent makers
  • Hobbyists
  • Designers
  • Professional artists or small business owners

It reflects the true cost of running a fully equipped workshop, including maintenance, utilities, equipment depreciation, and staff support. These sessions may also include more flexible usage or be used for profit-generating work (e.g., brand production, content shoots).

Why do you verify student status?

Offering student pricing is our way of supporting emerging creatives. To keep this option available long-term, we must verify that it’s being used by the people it’s intended for. This keeps our pricing fair and transparent for everyone.
