The Essence of Dwirupa Earrings
Material : Sterling Silver 925 & Pamor
The Dwirupa Earrings from Lievik Atelier’s Archeologist Collection embody the concept of duality and balance, deeply rooted in Nusantara’s spiritual and philosophical traditions. In Sanskrit, “Dwirupa” means “two forms”, reflecting the ancient Javanese-Hindu and Buddhist understanding of the world, where opposites coexist in harmony. This duality is seen in the balance of Rwa Bhineda in Javanese cosmology, Yin and Yang in Buddhist thought, and the eternal interplay of Purusha (consciousness) and Prakriti (nature) in Hindu philosophy.
The Dwirupa Earrings visually represent this concept through the fusion of two contrasting elements, a small molten sterling silver piece, symbolizing the organic, unpredictable flow of life, fluid, raw, and ever-changing. A round brass piece with Wos Wutah Pamor, representing prosperity, structure, and the interconnectedness of all things. The Wos Wutah Pamor, with its scattered rice grain-like patterns, signifies endless blessings and the constant movement of fortune, much like the ever-shifting energies of the universe.
This design reflects the philosophy of duality in Nusantara culture, light and shadow, softness and strength, movement and stillness. Just as the Javanese believe that harmony is achieved through the acceptance of opposites, the Dwirupa Earrings serve as a wearable reminder of balance, embracing both change and stability in one’s journey.
