The Essence of Tarawangsa Earrings

Material: Sterling Silver 925 & Pamor Wos Wutah

The Tarawangsa Earrings from Lievik Atelier’s Archeologist Collection are inspired by the mystical resonance of Tarawangsa, a sacred stringed instrument from Sundanese tradition, used in spiritual rituals and ceremonies to connect with the divine. In indigenous Nusantara culture, the Tarawangsa is more than just an instrument—it is a medium for meditation, trance, and ancestral communication, reflecting the deep-rooted belief that sound and vibration are pathways to the unseen world.

The form of the Tarawangsa Earrings is inspired by the graceful hand gestures of Sundanese dancers when performing the Tarawangsa ritual dance. The delicate curves mimic the motion of hands in trance, forming shapes that resemble wings, symbolizing spiritual elevation, freedom, and transcendence. Like the dancers who channel divine energy through their movements, these earrings serve as a reminder of our connection to tradition, sound, and the spiritual rhythms that shape our existence.

In indigenous Sundanese tradition, the Tarawangsa ritual is often performed during the harvest season, aligning with the meaning of Wos Wutah Pamor—which translates to “scattered rice grains”. Just as the Tarawangsa’s melodies bridge the physical and spiritual realms, the Wos Wutah Pamor symbolizes prosperity, abundance, and the cycle of life, much like the rice that sustains Nusantara communities.
